So after living in California for over 6 months it finally happened...we had our first, and second earthquake. Now, no one freak out or get worried everybody is fine and there was no damage. Jon and I were both at our respective jobs when at 10:10 on Jan. 7th it hit. It was a 4.1 and centered in Milpitas about 12 miles from our a apartment , and not far at all from Jon's office. Being new to earthquakes it was a little unnerving, but kind of interesting too. ( I can only say this because it was not a bad one at all.) There was a little buzz at work right after, but eventually it was work as usual and almost as if it didn't even happen. I learned rather quickly that earthquakes are just no big deal to the people out here, even if it was for me. Basically our building just rocked back and forth and it kind of felt like a big truck or plane had hit the building and it only lasted a minute or two. The power didn't even go out! As natural disasters that I have been through go, it was really mild. We had another small on the next day only about a 3. My boss thought it was an aftershock, but I'm not sure. The VP of my category shared some insight with me and told me that earthquakes are like farts....the little ones are good....the more little ones you have, the less likely you are to have a big fart. Sage huh!
So there you have it, my first earthquake!
